More walleye, perch and bass are caught in the waters surrounding the Lake Erie Islands anywhere else in the Great Lakes. Avid anglers and weekend fishermen have discovered what islanders have known for years: The best fishing in the area is found in Lake Erie in the waters around South Bass Island. Most importantly, perhaps, is the fact you can literally fish all year round here. We always suggest you hire a licensed fishing guide to help facilitate your fishing trip and a licensed ice fishing guide is always recommended for winter fishing adventures. Bud Gehring has years of experience as a licensed Ice
Fishing Guide and a summer charter boat captain for the area around the Lake Erie Islands.
Captain Gehring is available for ice fishing charters 7
days a week during the months of January, February and
March. $75 per person per day.
Captain Pat Chrysler has been a year-round professional fishing guide since 1966. Summer charters, 8 hours; spring &
fall charters in enclosed & heated boat, winter ice fishing in propane heated shanties. Reservations are required. Also performs wedding ceremonies.
Joe Kostura has nearly 20 years experience as a licensed fishing guide. Captain Joe offers 2 different fishing charters & operates 8 am to 3 pm. Reservations are required. Joe operates an airboat service
between the island & the Catawba Dock during the winter.
